SWISSÔTEL BISHKEK

Type: concept

Location: Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

Located in the heart of Bishkek, within the Birinchi Maj government district, the project is surrounded by some of the city’s most significant landmarks, from the monumental Ala-Too Square and its arcaded buildings, fountains and monuments to the shaded parks, cultural institutions and contemporary shopping destinations nearby.

The city itself provides a distinctive backdrop for the hotel: lively street life, bazaars and local cuisine coexist with modernist architecture, while the surrounding mountains and abundant sunlight shape the character of Bishkek.

The design draws on this combination of urban vitality and natural surroundings, while reflecting the identity of Swissôtel. The brand’s approach is rooted in contemporary hospitality, Swiss quality and care, expressed through a modern, uncluttered and intuitive design language. Natural and tactile materials, textiles, lighting, technology, craftsmanship and art come together with a focus on sustainability, ergonomics, health and well-being.

Two architectural approaches were developed for Swissôtel Bishkek, each drawing on a distinctive element of Kyrgyzstan’s cultural and natural heritage.

Option 1: Tower

Inspired by the Burana Tower, this concept translates its vertical character into a contemporary hotel form, combining verticality, intricate brickwork and elevated views.

Option 2: Wall

Inspired by the Jeti-Ögüz canyon walls, this concept creates an iconic mass defined by a strong horizontal presence and a play of light and shadow.

Both options reinterpret elements of Kyrgyzstan’s cultural and natural heritage through the contemporary design language of Swissôtel.
