GREENLINE AURORA

Type: landscape

Location: Astana, Kazakhstan

Client: BI Group

“Aurora” residential complex is located in a dynamic district of Astana and is part of the Bigville space, continuing the Waterline Alley theme of material transition and the formation of an air-water structure.

The project’s visual code is based on the image of a water bubble, defining the plasticity of the pavements, the logic of the courtyard’s “chambers,” and the distribution of the main spaces. The project aims to create a green, rich, yet private environment within a dense urban setting.

The main goal is to provide residents with comfort and a variety of recreational options. Extensive planting creates protected green spaces, and functions are distributed with privacy in mind: quiet areas, gazebos, hammocks, a water feature, and areas for relaxing are located closer to the residential facades; more active areas - a playground, sports, streetball, and barbecues - are located further back, away from windows. This creates a well-thought-out, balanced space that accommodates the needs of all ages and maintains the feeling of a tranquil courtyard.

Round shade canopies create an open public area for socializing, enjoying a snack, or playing board games. A central bar surrounded by trees and separate seating areas create a variety of seating options, from quick stops to leisurely relaxation. Soft seating and expansive views maintain a sense of lightness and connection to the surrounding landscape.

Pergolas with arched openings and swings form a cozy focal point of the Aurora courtyard. A thoughtful combination of shade structures, upholstered furniture, and greenery creates a tranquil space for gatherings and relaxation, where one can simultaneously find privacy and remain part of the vibrant courtyard environment. A smooth pedestrian path connects this area with other routes, maintaining a cohesive and easy-to-understand feel.

The project’s goal is to create a comfortable, intuitive environment where recreation areas, a playground, quiet corners, and green spaces flow naturally from one another, like concentric circles after rain.

Thoughtful landscaping, a soft relief, and shade structures support the integrity of the composition and make the courtyard lively and comfortable, enhancing a sense of security and the calm rhythm of everyday life.
