Location: Tashkent, Uzbekistan
Stage: in process
Client:
A mixed-use development concept in Tashkent built around water as the central element of the site. The Big Picture developed the concept for the territory, including its urban framework, architectural and landscape approach, functional zoning, public-life scenarios, and planting palette. The project brings together architecture, landscape, and everyday life through a spatial structure shaped by the lake and its connection to the wider urban and natural context.
The architectural concept is based on the idea of a living reflection. The lake is treated as a mirror of the landscape, and this image is translated into a continuous roof topography above an open ground level. The project is also inspired by the idea of the oasis, expressed through shade, layered space, filtered light, and a restrained material palette of stone, concrete, terracotta, metal, and wood.
The landscape concept sees water as a living system that regulates microclimate, supports biodiversity, and organizes public life. The program includes sports areas, a children’s playground, tea pavilions, restaurants, a bath house, a green amphitheater, cycling routes, a swimming lake with a beach, and spaces for water sports. The project also includes a winter scenario, in which the pool becomes an ice rink and the park remains active through seasonal uses and lighting.
