GRAVITY residential interior design
Type: interior design
Location: Astana, Kazakhstan
Stage: in process
Client: BI Group
GRAVITY is a concept for the public interiors of a residential complex in Astana. Inspired by the building’s dynamic architecture, the project translates the language of glass, metal and shifting façade lines into a calm, contemporary interior with a strong identity.
GRAVITY was developed as an interior concept that continues the character of the architecture rather than competing with it. The building stands out through its modern silhouette, dynamic façades and extensive use of glass and metal, and the interior responds with the same sense of lightness, precision and recognizability.
For the project, we used the idea of gravity not as a literal theme, but as a way to think about how space works: how materials, light, objects and people are drawn into a coherent whole. In this sense, the lobby becomes more than a transitional area. It becomes a space of arrival, orientation and quiet connection.
The material palette is intentionally concise. Natural stone, fiber cement panels and metal form the foundation of the interior, while matte glass adds softness, depth and subtle light refraction. Warm beige tones balance the cooler precision of steel, helping the spaces feel calm, tactile and residential.
A key accent is the lighting element — a levitating lamp reminiscent of countless stars in open space. Another important focal point is the fireplace — a symbol of warmth and home, the heart of the inte rior, reflecting in the mirror.
The elevator lobby is treated as a portal on the way home. A more compact and controlled space, it relies on proportion, warm metal tones, portal lighting and minimal detailing to create a calm and polished atmosphere. Delicate navigation, concealed elements and thin light lines reinforce the sense of order and quiet sophistication.
This is also where the project’s attention to detail becomes especially visible. High-quality lighting systems, concealed baseboards and precise engineering solutions are not presented as technical features alone, but as part of the overall experience of refinement.
